Nutritious, Whole, Natural Foods, some Organic Grains and Beans and Whole Grains & Beans without preservatives, full of Vitamins, Minerals, Fiber, Complex Carbohydrates, Vegetable Oils and Protein for a fraction of the cost of processed foods. These healthy foods are what our great grandparents enjoyed. Staples are used for making whole grain breads, pots of beans and rice, cereals, oatmeal and hearty stews and soups. They can even be ground finely to make baby foods, flours and meals. Infants can profit from Rice, Soy, Bean or Nut Milks. Free recipes for making these can be found Here. You will need a grain mill, oils or fats, seasonings, some additional meats, poultry or fish and some fresh greens for a healthy diet. Imitation Meats made from Soy Protein are also available, see TVP, which has a longer shelf life than real meat products. Basic Staples are low cost, no frills survival foods perfect for emergency preparedness and disaster relief food supply. Keep an emergency food pantry stocked with essentials for your family and friends in case of disruptions in the food supply or in transportation of food stuffs to your local area. We recommend the Family Grain Mill Modular System for making flour and flaked grain breads out of nutritious whole grains and beans. Our least expensive grain mill is the Back to Basic Mill, it will grind Ezekiel Mix as well, but takes a little work. 

We recommend several excellent mills, each can handle Ezekiel Mixes (a blend of small grain and large beans, high protein): 

1. The Country Living with the Power Bar Extension Manual Mill (requires dedicated space). Cast Aluminum Mill w/flywheel.
2. The WonderMill Junior Deluxe Manual Mill -- Comes with extra thick stones and metal burrs set (makes nut butters)!
3. The Wonder Mill Junior Standard Manual Mill. Comes with extra thick stones and excellent clamp, adjustable from cracking to extra fine!
4. The #2 Grist Mill (Manual) for healthy flours and corn meal (will not make extra fine flour). Requires dedicated space.
5. The Back to Basic for an emergency grinder, will handle Ezekiel Mixes, least expensive.
6. The Family Grain Mill System for dual power with the Grain Mill, Flaker Mill, Meat Grinder and 3 mm Grinding Plate, With the optional Meat Grinder and 3 mm Grinding Plate offered by the Family Grain Mill; you can also make Spaghetti Pasta and grind Peanuts or other nuts (after soaking for 24 hours in oil or water using the Meat Grinder attachment only) for Nut Butters.  
7. The Golden Grain Deluxe Electric Mill with optional Handle for use when the power is out. Requires dedicated space.

We have meticulously followed FEMA standards in setting up our inexpensive food storage units. See, Amounts to Store, below. Our units contain Wheat, Other Grains, Legumes (Beans and Peas) Sweeteners, Dehydrated Non Fat Milk, Dehydrated Powdered Eggs and Salt as per the recommendation of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. 

Suggested Amounts to Store for a One Year Supply: (From the Federal Emergency Management Agency) Uncooked Dry Goods: (Shelf life 10-20 years on grains and beans unopened. Store out of direct sunlight in coolest possible place. Keep supplies dry, cool and dark for the longest possible shelf life. Each Super Pail is vacuum sealed to prevent decomposition and oxidation of stored food stuffs.)
