RB -- Regular Bucket. 6 Gallon Food Grade Plastic Bucket with Handle, Stackable with Gasket Lid. Packed with foods of your choice. Oxygen Absorbers have been added to provide an oxygen free environment for maximum shelf life. Gasket Lids form an airtight seal. Buckets may be concave or convex after shipping. This is normal and means only that the bucket remains with an airtight seal. However, wherever there is a bend or dent in plastic, it may crack over time, thus compromising your food supply with oxygen, the number one destroyer of foods. Regular Buckets are NOT recommended for long term storage, because we can not guarantee the integrity of the bucket over time. Also, excess stress on the bucket itself occurs because there is no Mylar Liner buffeting the effect of the Oxygen Absorbers.

SP -- Super Pail, a 6 gallon bucket with a thick Mylar Liner. Foods are inside the liner, then oxygen absorbers are added inside the liner in the bucket and a gasket lid hammered into place. The Mylar Liner serves as an extra barrier against humidity and changes in atmospheric pressure. Mylar Liner is less porous than plastic, therefore recommended for long term storage!! Also, protects against light, which can destroy vitamins. The Mylar Liner is a second barrier of defense against oxidation, if there is a loss of bucket integrity.

Approximate Shelf Life Information for #10 cans, #2.5 cans, Mylar zip bags, SP foods stored w/o oxygen at 70 degrees F. or cooler! The cooler the better for the longest possible shelf life.

• Most non-oily Whole Grains and Beans / White Sugar / Salt / Honey and Whole Grain Ezekiel Mixes + 10-20 years.

• Molasses 7-10 years shelf life. Ours is unsulfured!

• Egg / Mixes with Eggs / 12% moisture dried (chewy) Fruits + 3-5 years (longer, if low moisture, crunchy, less than 4% moisture -- 7-10 years) / Flour + 3-5 years (store cold).

• Non-Fat Milk Dehydrated or Dried powdered / Vegetables 7-10 years / Brown Rice (store as cool as possible) 3-7 years / Rolled Oats / TVP + 5-10 years. Note: Defatted Peanut Butter Powder will store 5-10 years.

• Flax Seed / Golden Flax Seed / Nuts / Sesame Seeds / Super Nutty Granola + 12 - 18 months. Note: Soy Beans are oily seeds, may get shorter shelf life than other grains, as well.

Note: Flour Mixes have a short shelf life of one year and are not recommended for long term storage. This is because the germ of every seed contains encapsulated essential oils. Once the germ is milled the oils are released into the endosperm (carbohydrate) and the product goes rancid very quickly. Many flour mixes do not contain Oxygen Absorbers, because Oxygen Absorbers react to the Baking Powder in Flour Mixes! (Nothing dangerous, you just have to add additional Baking Powder, before cooking the mix.) Store flour mixes just as cold as you can for the longest possible shelf life, freezer is recommended. All of our flour mixes are complete, unless they call for yeast!
