Shipping for most food items

Shipping prices on this page are obsolete! Shipping changes almost weekly. We will get shipping quotes for you or give the shipping amount when you email, fax or phone your orders to us.

Quite frankly, zones 6-8 should save up or combine orders with neighbors to equal 1,300 lb. or more and include buckets on the pallet order. (Maximum 1 pallet of foods packed for long term storage is up to 36 Buckets + Cans not to exceed 1,600 lbs.) This will give you a decent shipping break and take away any handling fees on buckets. Also, small can orders (packed for long term, 6-12 large cans, up to 24 small cans or combo) or small bulk orders 200 lb. or so (not packed for long term) are also advisable. There are three types of freight quotes:

  1. Residential, (called Curbside, Driver has lift-gate truck and offloads at your curb. You must be there to receive the order. The driver's legal responsibility ends at the curb. If he has time and for a decent gratuity ($20.00 or so), the driver may move your pallets into the garage or carport. If you do not compensate him, he may report your delivery as "inside delivery" and you may be charged additional $150.00 dollars, since they will charge the Packing House, the Packing House will charge me and I will be forced to pass on the additional shipping costs to you.

  2. Business to business in a commercial or industrial zone (accommodates 18 wheelers easily, can be as simple as the local feed store.) w/loading dock or forklift. (It is better to drive a ways to a larger town, than to pay rural charges, generally speaking.) You would supply the business name, contact information, address and telephone number, which would become your ship to address and

  3. Terminal nearest your zip code by our affiliate companies. You would pick up there and transport to your storage area. We will supply the name of the company, address, and telephone number, which would be part of your ship to address.

Note: This page is obsolete. UPS changes nearly every week. Please, email, fax or phone an order. We will make a Proof Invoice and send to you by email. If you provide a shipping address, we will provide S&H quotes. Proof Invoices need to be proof read for accuracy. They may be changed, corrected, cancelled or confirmed. We will work within your budget to modify an order to match your budget. Basically, a small discount occurs at 200 lbs. By UPS an order weighing 150 lb. ships the same as an order weighing 200 lbs. The same is true for 450 lb. and 500 lbs. Buckets all have a $2.10 handling charge, if they ship by UPS or Fed Ex. No bucket charges are charged on pallet orders. Can Orders ship the most quickly. As a rule of thumb approximately 8 #10 cans = one SP of foods. Shelf life of our foods packed for long term storage is HERE!

At 700 lb. we start residential and business freight quotes for pallet orders. The first really good discount is somewhere between 1150 lb. and 1300 lb. The maximum pallet of foods packed for long term storage (Super Pails, #10 Cans, #2.5 cans, Wet packed Canned Real Meats and Freeze Dried Fruits and Vegetables), may consist up to 36 Super Pails (SP) or Buckets + Cans not to exceed 1,600 lbs. Pallets of bulk foods not packed for long term storage in bulk bags or boxes start at 1,000 lb. and go up to 2,000 lb. per pallet.

Note: On Commercial or Residential Freight Only, pallet sizes have been reduced to further prevent damages to your pallet orders. You can now fit 36 Regular or Super Pail buckets and Water Drums on one pallet or 42 cases of #10 cans plus Water Drums  on one pallet! Combination Bucket orders plus cans the average weight limit has been lowered to around 1,600 lbs. per pallet. (Private Pool Truck pallets are still 2,000 lbs or more each and can have 48 buckets plus cans up to 2,500 lb./pallet.)

Larger orders may be divided into two or more shrink wrapped pallets, still with reasonable shipping via Commercial or Residential Freight. Please, call toll free above for quotes (quotes may take up to 4 working days)!

Pool Truck shipments ship when the truck is full going to your area, you may have to wait for several months for your order to ship. Pool Trucks have a minimum weight of 2,000 lbs. per order.

AAOOB reserves the right to charge an AAOOB 5% on the S&H (only), Service Fee. We will usually waive this charge; if payment is by Check, Business Check, Cashier's Check, Bank Check or Postal Money Order.

You may use this as a fair estimate, but actually shipping costs will be confirmed once an order is placed! There is a 6.25% Fuel Charge for UPS added onto the shipping charge. There are also box fees for bags and buckets. Call us for help figuring the S&H Toll Free: 888-201-6785!

STEPS TO Figuring S&H charges: UPS ground or hundredweight.

  1. Figure the shipping weight of your order. Divide that weight by 50 lbs. The largest package we can send without incurring additional fees is 50 lbs. Remaining weight will be a smaller package. Exceptions to this explained below.

  2. For orders totaling up to 199 lbs. use UPS ground service. Figure the Shipping charge for each box.

  3. For orders from 200 lbs. to 999 lbs. use UPS hundred weight service. Note: There is a minimum shipping charge of $46.00 for hundredweight!!

  4. Orders over 999 lbs. may be shipped in multiple orders at the lower 500 lb. rate, by UPS. We will also get you Freight Quote, if your order reaches 1,000 lbs. You can choose which you prefer.

  5. Pallet size orders of 2,000 lbs. or more will usually be least expensive at the Pool Truck or LTL Carrier rate. Many areas can be serviced this way in the lower 48 states. There are some exceptions, if you live in a remote area, then if UPS goes there, we can ship by UPS to you.

  6. First, figure out your shipping zone. The first 3 digits of your zip code determines your shipping zone.

  7. Second, figure out the shipping charge per package to your zone using the tables below.

  8. Third, figure in the UPS fuel surcharge. Current Fuel Surcharges are 6.25%. Multiply your shipping charge by 1.0625 to get your new shipping charge including the Fuel Surcharge.

  9. Fourth, add the box charge if applicable (for buckets or bags). Orders less than 20 lbs. do not usually require a box charge. UPS charges $5.00/item irregularly shaped item charge. To get around that, we put irregularly shaped items in a large box. UPS considers bags and buckets to be irregularly shaped items. Add $1.00 for every 50 lb. of bulk bag items. Add $2.00 for every bucket either Super Pails or Regular Buckets. We do not charge box charges for cans at this time. Our packing house is supplying the boxes for the cans at no cost to the consumer.

  10. This is your total S&H charge, if you are paying by Check or Money Order!

  11. If you are paying for S&H by VISA, Discover or MasterCard; then multiply the total S&H fees x 1.05 to add the AAOOB 5% S&H Only, Service Fee. We gladly waive this fee, if you are paying the S&H by Check or Money Order, it only partially covers the added expense of using our Internet Bank.

INSTRUCTIONS: Find the first three digits of your zip code then determine your zone.

AAOOB's 1-70 lbs UPS Ground Shipment Chart

Find your shipping cost.

UPS Rates and Charges

Now that you've found the shipping zone for your area, you are ready to find how much your shipment will cost. If you order less than 200 lbs, the shipping is charged by the individual package. Find your zone on the weight chart that matches the weight of your order.

You will also need to add the UPS Fuel Surcharge of 5.0%. Multiply the Shipping weight charge for your zone by1.05. The number you get is your new shipping base rate amount.  Round to the nearest penny.

If your order consists of several packages you will need to add the costs for each package to find your total shipping cost. Buckets of foods must go by themselves or with a Gamma Seal Lid added to the box.

UPS charges a $5.00 per item irregularly shaped charge. They consider buckets and bags irregularly shaped. We get around that charge by putting irregularly shaped items in a large box. Buckets are charged $2.00/bucket. We can fit one SP or one RB and a Gamma Seal Lid in each large box. If you are purchasing bulk foods, then we can usually fit 50 lbs in one large box. There is a $1.00 box charge for 50 lbs. of bags. Effective January 2008, there are no box charges added for #10 cans, Mylar bags or #2.5 cans. We put no more than 50 lbs of bagged food in a box, except Rye, we put the whole bushel of Rye in one large box.  If you have problems figuring this, please, either E-mail or call us toll free for help 1-888-201-6785.

No Fuel Surcharges have been added to the 1 lb to 50 lb table below. Current rate 5.00% Multiply by 1.05 to get the correct rate and add packaging charges!

Obsolete prices, below!

Many Zip Codes incur an additional zip code Surcharge of $2.35/package for Rural Surcharge Zones. Please, call 1-888-201-6785 so we can calculate the S&H for you and check the Rural Surcharge Zip Code Chart!

Instructions: Determine your cost by intersecting the shipment weight on the chart with the zone you want shipment to. (Use the above chart for this example.) Take this figure and times it by how many hundredweight your shipment is. For example, lets say you want a ground shipment to zone 5 for 350 lbs. Intersecting the chart, you find you must pay $34.39 per hundred lbs shipped. 350 lbs equals 3.5 hundredweights (350 divided by 100 = 3.5). To find your cost, multiply the $34.39 by 3.5 for a total cost of shipment to you of $120.365 (plus a $2.00 per bucket special boxing fee, and $1.00 per 50 pounds of Bulk Foods. If you are having trouble with it, feel free to E-mail or give us a call. $120.37 is your shipping and handling if paying by Check or Money Order for S&H only. If you are using VISA, MC or Discover then add 5% to the shipping total to cover the 3% Discount Points charged by the Internet Bank, plus fees. 120.37 x 1.05 = $126.39 S&H if paying by credit card.

All Shipping Rates are subject to change without notice, all estimated rates above must be confirmed!

Notes:
1. Commercial Trucks: Normally this method is used for orders of 1,000 lbs. or more. Commercial Freight ships much faster than Pool Truck, because you do not have to wait for a truck to be filled to depart for your area. We generally use Oak Harbor, Old Dominion or Yellow Freight, because they offer a large discount with our volume, which we pass onto the customer. Please, call for a quote. We are charged by the hundredweight with the exception of Water Drums and other items that have a large volume, but small weight.  A Pro number will be given to you at the time of shipment and you will be responsible to check the delivery schedule, meet and receive your pallets. For an additional fee, we can guarantee delivery within certain time frames. Please, let us know. if you want the additional guarantee quote, when you call. If you choose, commercial freight, Residential Delivery may be much higher than Commercial delivery. If possible, find a business with a fork lift and loading dock or a freight depot in your area, that will allow your pallets to be delivered at their address. This could save you up to $350.00 in shipping charges. Sometimes, freight depots will charge you a bit to use their facilities usually in the $50.00 - $100.00 range. You would need to pick up the order promptly to avoid storage charges. Commercial Freight Quotes are good for only 20 days! Trucking companies reserve the right to change the charges without notice, but if your order ships within the 20 days, they are good about honoring the quote!

2. Pallets: A pallet will generally average 1600 lbs. 36 buckets/pallet plus cans or 42 cases of #10 cans/pallet or some combination thereof. You may choose between B2B rates (less expensive) and residential rates (more convenient, but more expensive). If you choose B2B, then make arrangements with a local business with a loading dock and fork lift to receive your pallets. Their business address will become your shipping address.  The more pallets, the less expensive to ship each pallet. A Pro number will be given at the time of the shipment  with the name and telephone of the Shipping Company. You will be responsible to check the delivery date and receive your pallets. If you are choosing residential delivery, then it will be your responsibility to meet the truck and pallet(s). Please, note any obvious damage on the paper, before you sign off for the order.

3. Private Pool Trucks: This is usually the least expensive freight. Orders should weigh 2000 lbs. or more. Average weight per pallet 2,300 lbs. Maximum weight 2,500 lbs.  These orders may take longer to ship, because we accumulate orders to fill a 44,000 lb. truck to a geographical area. If you have a smaller order you may be required to meet the truck at a nearby stop. Because of the physical size of the 18 wheelers, not all residential deliveries are possible. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR LOCAL AREA FOR RESTRICTIONS. You must be flexible to the time schedule (within reason). Unloading is your responsibility. Drivers will NOT help unload.  We are usually available from 8AM-6PM CST (888-201-6785), please, call to see how a pool truck is building for your area and to get a firm freight quote. This is our method to keep track of upcoming orders and to coordinate with you. Please, see, approximate quotes above. Note: If you live in a remote area or off the main trucking routes these rates may not apply! Some regions may not be available for Pool Truck service. We can ship to almost anyone using hundredweight UPS Discount Hundredweight Service. Please, call to confirm a shipping quote!

A Drop Charge of $60.00 per stop is always charged on less than a truckload for Pool Truck service.

Count the number of cases and the number of buckets when the order is delivered. The order will be shrink wrapped in a way, that it should be quick and easy to do this preliminary audit, before you sign for the order. If you receive a damaged item on a shipment you must inform the freight company at delivery! Do this by writing the words "damaged" on the release form, before you sign off. Look for obvious signs of damage, such as spilled grain, open or broken buckets, severely damaged cans etc. Point out the damage to the driver. If you do not write the word "damaged" then it is very difficult and sometimes impossible to win a claim against the trucking company! Note: Dented Regular Buckets and Super Pails are normal! That just means the air-tight seal is intact and the oxygen absorbers are working to preserve your foods!

Do a complete inventory of your order within the first two weeks and please, notify us immediately of any problems or discrepancies! Damages and/or missing items MUST be reported within 2 weeks!

RETURN POLICY for Bulk Foods, Low Temperature Heat Dehydrated Foods, Air dried foods, Foods packed for long term storage in #10 cans, #2.5 cans, Mylar Bags, Super Pails, and Regular Buckets: All returns must be approved. There will be a 15% restocking fee on all returns and the customer has the responsibility to pay the cost of shipping the product back. No refunds are available for shipping charges unless, it is the fault of the vendor. We take responsibility, if it is due to error on our part. Claims can be made to the shipping companies for shortages or damages. Please, examine your buckets and inventory your pallet orders within 2 weeks. Claims must be made within 2 weeks. Return requests must be made within 15 days of receiving the products. Grain Mills, Grinders and products that have been opened or used, may NOT be returned.
